POLICY AND DATA ANALYST

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is the heart of Donovan Energy’s consulting business. The Policy and Data Analyst (“Analyst”) has a strong understanding of the economic, social and political forces that shape wholesale and retail energy markets in the U.S. The Analyst is comfortable meeting with business representatives, utilities, government officials, non-profit organizations, and other energy industry stakeholders. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills are a must. The Analyst supports Donovan Energy’s consulting clients and engages with lighting, electric vehicle charging, PACE financing, and other lines of business as needed.

REPORTS TO:  Partner - Consulting 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research, analyze proposed and current policies, and evaluate their effects on Donovan Energy clients;

  • Collect and organize client data to provide strategic insights on energy use and spend;

  • Evaluate feasibility of renewable energy and energy efficiency project development;

  • Navigate subscription news and information services such as S&P Global Market Intelligence;

  • Generate attractive, informative data visualizations for internal and external use;

  • Prepare interim and final client reports in narrative form and produce well-designed, visually appealing slide decks; and

  • Provide general support for Partner – Consulting and other staff.

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Advanced degree preferred. College degree in energy, environmental sciences, finance, or related field required.

  • Experience: No work experience strictly necessary, but 2-3 years of experience in the energy field is a plus.

 

 

COMPETENCE & SKILL SET

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills;

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to drive resolution;

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel;

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills;

  • Knowledge of cloud collaboration tools (i.e. Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) and the Microsoft Office suite;

  • Comfort with financial analysis and reporting;

  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software; and

  • Understanding of energy markets, environmental laws, and public utility regulation.
